Bird Conservancy of the Rockies

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies conserves birds and their habitats through an integrated approach of science, education and land stewardship. Our mission is advanced through sound science, achieved through empowering people, realized through land stewardship and sustained through partnerships. Together, we are improving native bird populations, the land and the lives of people from the northern Rockies and the Great Plains to wintering grounds in Mexico.

Since its inception in 1988, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies has called Barr Lake State Park home. Our headquarters, the historic 130-year-old Old Stone House, serves as a window to our past and a place to see and experience bird conservation through demonstrations, lectures, field trips and self-guided discovery.

The Environmental Learning Center at the Old Stone House serves as an inspiration point to nature in a growing urban setting welcoming more than 30,000 children and adults to programs that help kids grow in nature, stay unplugged, get dirty and have fun while learning about themselves and how they fit into their natural surroundings. Come visit us. Explore our bi-lingual interpretive signage along a self-guided nature path and immerse yourself in the natural and cultural history on the outskirts of Brighton.
